Block heating systems
A block heating system is a combined heat and power generation system. It uses the energy twice. Thermal energy which is the by-product of cooling in power generation no longer evaporates but heats rooms, commercial areas and water. This tried and tested system is an economical and ecological form of power generation which enables the user to be independent of local suppliers. Excess electricity can be sold quite simply to the grid operator.
When you buy electricity you also pay for energy which you never receive: heat which is destroyed in the cooling towers, which is in fact two-thirds of your total electricity bill. The thermal energy which the power station operators calculate as a waste product of power generation would be adequate to cover the total heating energy requirements of the German population – twice.
