On 12 May 1998, directly after finishing his master craftsman's diplomas in heating and ventilation technology and gas and water installation, Thies Hahn set up his company thies hahn – handwerker mit ideen – sanitär und heizungstechnik in Eutin. Melanie, his wife, contributed commercial and wholesale qualifications and was responsible for all the office work. 

Just a few weeks later growing numbers of orders meant recruiting the first fitters and the company's staff grew steadily. Later there were apprentices and trainees both out on site and in the office. The new company specialised early in the field of renewable energy, beginning with the installation of solar energy units and later planning complete energy systems such as, e.g. high technology systems with paraffin storage units, air and water pump technology for private and commercial use or the supply of entire rural estates with combined heat and power plants and district heating systems.

Thies and Melanie Hahn now work with a permanent team of about 20 employees. Thies Hahn is a certified heat pump consultant for the Viessmann company in Schleswig-Holstein and has made a name for himself in the marketing, fitting and maintenance of combined heat and power plants in Ostholstein. The company is active in nearly all forms of renewable energy.

The hard-working and friendly office staff work hand-in-hand with the team of fitters who receive constant training in all new technological developments.

Melanie Hahn is responsible for marketing and public relations and the company's website.

The future of the company is clearly in the field of renewable energy. As the parents of three children Melanie and Thies Hahn have the highest possible motivation to make their mark with future-oriented energy systems and so contribute to climate protection.
